Day 1 - Arrive in Rio

We arrived in Rio after 14 hours of travelling which all went reasonably well except for a little turbulence (Bev might not agree on the little!) over the Atlantic. Rio has been a bit over cast for the day but that didn't matter too much as we have been catching up on some lost sleep after the flights.

Rio, well at least Copacabana, is quite a buzzing city that has lots going on. there are a lot of different and quite strange people around which keeps your guard up but so far no troubles (touch wood). The view of Copacabana beach from the hotel swimming pool is quite stunning as can be seen form the pictures.

Had our first Rio dinner which was quite tasty although we do need to brush up on our Portuguese which is terrible at the moment. ( I think the waiters would agree as they where suggesting sign language rather then the phrase book!!)

Panic in the Last Weeks

In the weeks on the lead up to our leaving it's been fairly hectic, well Bev's been sat next to the pool in Spain and I've been relaxing down in Southampton! If only it was quite that easy. Before getting down to Southampton saw a weekend of manic panicking as I tried to clear the flat, pack up shipping boxes and sell the car. Luckily good friends have been there to help out at the best times. Bev's got all her bits to do int he 3 days before we leave which is going to be fairly manic and probably involve a certain amount of panicking!
