Day 12 - City of the Kings

As we arrived late last night and our view of the city of Lima was in the dark we thought that we'd have a quick look around to prove that it isn't as bad as it looked. Well we where right the first time. Despite the central square we couldn't see anything that proved that this was the "city of kings" as the tour operator suggested. A majority of the city is very similar to those of Eastern Europe, looking rather run down and a bit dodgy (dodgy enough for the cab driver to advise us to lock the doors on the way into town!!)

The city did have one plus though and that was a wonderful restaurant just off the main square. The food was really good and we both over ate! Due to us getting caught up in the need to please our stomachs we completely missed the notice about our Inca Trail welcome meeting. (We later found out by over hearing the next groups meeting that we didn't miss anything and we where definitely in a better place!)

One thing that we did find out for our impending Inca tour is that the pick up for the airport was at 3am so we hastily headed off to bed.
